Features of First Generation Computers

First Generation Computers had the following features:

1. Vacuum tubes were used for electronic circuits and magnetic drums were used for primary storage medium and mercury delay lines for memory.
2. Storage capacity was limited(e.g. 1 k bytes to 4 k bytes).
3. Slow operating speeds(e.g.Milli seconds).
4. Large in size.
5. Restricted computing capacity.Mainly used in scientific calculations and record keeping.
