You can work in different drives by changing from one drive to the next.
Syntax
default drive:\>destination drive:
Where,
default drive : the drive in which you are working.
destination drive : the drive into which you want to change.
Example 1
C:\>A:(press enter key)
It is used to change from C: drive to A: drive
Example 2
A:\>C:(press enter key)
It is used to change from A: drive to C: drive.
If you have a network system.
F:\>STUDENT>A:(press enter key)
It changes from F: drive to A: drive.
Displaying Disk Volume Label
VOL
VOL command displays disk volume label.
Syntax
VOL[drive:]
Where,
drive : the drive whose label you want to see.
If you do not type a drive letter, MS-DOS displays the volume label of disk in default drive.
This command also displays the series number, if it exists.
Example 1
C:\>VOL(press enter key)
It shows the volume label of default drive (C: drive).
Example 2
C:\>VOL A:(press enter key)
It shows the volume label of drive A:
