Fixed Disk System (FDS)

As mentioned before, the hard disk in E.D.S. unit are removable or exchangeable. In some unit of mainframes or minicomputers, the hard disks are fixed inside and can not be removed, such a system is known as Fixed Disk System (F.D.S.). Such a system has more data sorting capacity compared to E.D.S. For example E.D.S.-200 represents an E.D.S. unit capable of storing 200 Million of data but F.D.S.-650 represents a F.D.S unit capable of storing 650 million of data.
