Computer Assisted Learning ( C.A.L.) is a technique in which the computer is used with special programs to teach a particular subject. Both C.A.I. and C.A.L. are sometimes considered. to be similar.
The self teaching to the students by C.A.L. done through the following steps.
- First, the information and questions are displayed on the screen of the computer.
- The student answers the questions.
- The answers of the student are checked by he computer and suitable response or message are in turn displayed for the students. It also shows the performance of a student and may display and store the score (obtained marks).
-with the help of the score, the teacher can evaluate the student's progress in learning.
Advantages of C.A.L. and C.A.I.
1. Students can work as slowly or as quickly as they wish.
2. The students can repeat the study material as many times as they like.
3. Immediate feed back (response ) is displayed on the screen about their perforamnce.
4. It is helpful to he teacher to evaluate the performance of students in class.
