Wild-Card Characters

Instead of typing complete file names we can specify the parts of the name by using few characters like * or ?, known as Wild Card Characters.
The use of wild card characters make the quicker and efficient use of the commands. The following are the mostly used wild-card characters :
*  :  any file or extension
?  :  any characters
:  :   drive specification
/  :   indication of option
> :   redirection
^ :   control sign
!  :   pipe indication
