Order Code Processor (OCP)

The instructions mentioned in the programs determine the results. In case of mainframes or mini computers, the instructions of a program, are first read by the computer and sent to the unit, known as Order Code Processor(O.C.P.). The O.C.P. analyses the received instructions and determines the data is to be processed. Thus, actual data processing is done inside the O.C.P. Whenever the processing is completed, the necessary commands are sent to the Device Control Unit (D.C.U.) to display the result or output on the monitor or printed on the paper with printer or stored in the tape or stored in the hard disk.
